Why Nitrox on Malapascua?
Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx) contains more oxygen and less nitrogen than regular air, typically 32% or 36% O2. Less nitrogen absorption means longer no-deco limits, shorter surface intervals, and less post-dive fatigue.
On Malapascua, the difference is dramatic:
- Monad Shoal (tiger sharks) sits at 22-25m. On air, average bottom time is 37 minutes. On Nitrox? Around 70 minutes. That is two dives for the price of one.
- Gato Island has a pygmy seahorse fan at 25m. Nitrox gives you the time to actually find them and tick off this bucket-list creature.
- Dona Marilyn and Tapilon wrecks are perfect for extended Nitrox profiles.
- Kalanggaman wall dives are also well suited for Nitrox at depth.

Course Overview
The Nitrox course has a small amount of reading and will not take up much of your holiday. Complete the theory in advance with PADI eLearning if you pre-book, so all that is left to do when you arrive is dive.

- What a compressor room looks like and see how we fill nitrox manually and with our membrane system.

Prerequisites
For Non-Diving Nitrox (theory only):
- Minimum age: 12 years
- PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
For Nitrox with 2 Dives:
- Minimum age: 12 years
- PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
- Normal good health (check the PADI Dive Medical Form)
For Nitrox + TSD Shark Specialty:
- Minimum age: 12 years
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
Preferably:
- Complete PADI eLearning before arrival

We blend Nitrox on-site at TSD and have a brand new membrane system. Nitrox fills are available on-site at discount package rates. Just show us your cert card.
