Try Scuba Diving on Malapascua Island – No Experience Needed
PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) is your first step into the underwater world. Under direct instructor supervision, you’ll breathe underwater and explore a real reef dive site — no certification required. It’s the easiest way to find out whether diving is for you.

How It Works
The DSD experience takes around half a day. We handle all the equipment — you just show up.
- Duration: approximately 3 hours
- 1 guided ocean dive (max depth 12m)
- All scuba equipment provided
- No certification required
Course Overview
There are three parts to the Discover Scuba Diving experience:
Dive Briefing
Your instructor walks you through basic skills and hand signals before you enter the water. Around 30 minutes covering everything you need to feel confident.
Shallow Water Skills
Before the ocean dive, you’ll practise breathing underwater in very shallow, calm water with your instructor alongside you at all times.
Ocean Dive
A guided dive at one of Malapascua’s reef sites. Your instructor controls depth and stays close throughout. Expect coral, reef fish, and — if the conditions are right — a whole lot more.
Prerequisites
Prerequisites
This dive is suitable for any non-diver. No experience or swimming skills are required. Anyone can learn to dive as long as you are in reasonable physical condition. Please check the medical form and consult a physician if necessary. You can also contact us with your questions and we encourage you to do so!
The minimum age for Discover Scuba Diving is 10 years old. Younger divers can do the Bubblemaker program.
Your Instructors
The DSD is not a certification. You dive only under direct instructor supervision. To dive independently, see our Open Water Course.

Who Can Do This?
Anyone in reasonable health aged 10 or over. Basic water comfort is helpful but you don’t need to be a strong swimmer. A short medical questionnaire is completed before the session.
